KUALA LUMPUR: Foreign investors continued their selling on Bursa Malaysia last week, offloading RM466.42mil worth of equities against RM40.57mil in the preceding week, according to MIDF Research. “As the market reopened on Monday last week, foreign investors bought RM2.62mil net of local equities, with retailers and local institutions as net buyer and seller to the tune of RM66.55mil and RM69.17mil respectively,” MIDF said in its weekly fund flow report. The research house said foreign investors were net sellers every day except Monday during last week. The inflow was insufficient to reverse the negative momentum. “Largest foreign outflow was recorded on Thursday at RM189.58mil and the smallest outflow was on Tuesday at only RM16.37mil,” MIDF said. On the other hand, retailers were net buyers every day last week. Largest net buying was recorded on Thursday at RM199.84mil while the smallest net purchase was on Monday at RM66.55mil. Local institutions were net sellers every day of the week, except on Wednesday. The cumulative weekly outflow was to the tune of RM232.64mil. The biggest outflow was on Tuesday and the smallest outflow was on Thursday at RM10.26mil. “Since the beginning of 2021, cumulatively, retailers are the only net buyers of our equity market to the tune of RM2.81bil. “Local institutions and foreign investors are net sellers to the tune of RM1.58bil and RM1.22bil respectively,” MIDF said. In terms of participation, MIDF said retail investors, foreign investors and local institutions recorded a weekly increase of 64.75%, 49.04% and 48.20% in average daily trade value (ADTV) respectively. Meanwhile, Public Bank registered the highest net money inflow of RM13.26mil last week. Dialog saw the second highest net money in-flow of RM3.27mil while MISC saw the third highest net money inflow of RM2.88mil. On the other hand, Top Glove saw the largest net money outflow of RM13.37mil last week. Telekom Malaysia recorded the second largest net money outflow of RM8.03mil and Hartalega registered the third largest net money outflow of RM6.12mil during the week under review.
